Krista Costin
Mezzo-Soprano
Mezzo-Soprano Krista Costin has performed with Minnesota Chorale, Consortium Carissimi, SPCO Chorus, Minnesota Beethoven Festival, The Singers, Minnesota Bach Ensemble, Oratory Bach Ensemble, Minnesota Opera, Border CrosSing, the Berwick Chorus of the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Motet Choir at House of Hope Presbyterian Church where she serves as soloist and alto section leader. Passionate about new works, she recently premiered ‘How to Triumph Like a Girl‘, a new art song by local composer Tim Takach at SongSLAM, winning first place by audience vote. Additionally, she made her professional opera debut as Candy Mallow in Peter Ash’s new opera, The Golden Ticket, with Atlanta Opera in 2012. A lover of Bach, she has sung with the Weimar Bach Cantata Academy and JSB Ensemble in Germany, under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from Augsburg College and Indiana University, respectively, and is currently studying under the tutelage of Mary Kay Schmidt.
