Trombone

Canadian­ born trombonist Carson King­Fournier is a freelance musician based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Carson earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Juilliard School in 2013, and a Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University in 2015. His teachers include Joseph Alessi, Michael Mulcahy, R. Douglas Wright, Timothy Higgins, Randall Hawes, Christopher Davis, Kari Sundstrom, and Dr. John Tranter. He has performed with a variety of ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, West Michigan Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the United States Military Academy Band at West Point among others. Carson also has participated in many summer music festivals including the Ravinia Festival, Colorado College Music Festival, Lakes Area Music Festival, Campos do Jordão International Winter Festival, and Tanglewood Music Centre Festival. In addition to playing trombone, Carson also performs frequently on bass trombone, sackbut, euphonium, and bass trumpet. In an orchestral setting, he has worked with many prestigious conductors such as Alan Gilbert, Kurt Masur, Bernard Haitink, Robert Spano, Leonard Slatkin, and James DePreist among others. He has also performed with Jordi Savall on sackbut, and with jazz artists Steve Turre, Chris Jaudes, Ben Wolfe, and Irvin Mayfield on both tenor and bass trombone.
